Apple iPhone 7 & 7 Plus Pre-Orders Start Today in India

Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones in San Francisco on Wednesday. Both new iPhone models have an India release date of October 7; Apple has confirmed. Flipkart, which is one of the official online retailers, is accepting pre-orders for the new phones. Customers can start pre-ordering the Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus from today, September 29 at 23:59 hours from the company’s website. Flipkart has a separate landing page on the website for Apple iPhone 7 and users can ask to be notified when the phone is up for pre-order. Flipkart will charge the full payment for the pre-booking of the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and not a token amount.

To recall, Apple partnered with Flipkart earlier this month to expand the online availability of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones in India. Until recently, Apple had Infibeam as its only authorized online reseller. Apple’s tie-up with Flipkart means the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be available at the official launch price at the online retailer. The biggest advantage for Flipkart with the partnership will be that it can source the new iPhone models from Apple directly, instead of Apple partners. Those units still carried Apple warranty, so for end users, this is unlikely to be a significant change.

Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus have the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD display. But Apple has gone for a wide color gamut. And according to tests from Display Mate, this LCD is close to perfection. Apple is using the A10 Fusion quad-core chip on the new iPhones, clocked at 2.23GHz. The new chip has two high processing cores and two efficiency cores to ensure better battery life. Apple says the new iPhone 7; iPhone 7 Plus have improved battery life compared to the iPhone 6s series. But it’s still not good enough when compared to the other flagships like S7; S7 Edge is offering.

The latest iPhone models come with a new design, doing away with the antenna lines at the back. They will be available in two new colors: (matte) black, jet black (glossy black), in addition to gold, silver, and rose gold, seen earlier. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus also feature a redesigned home button which is now solid-state and force-sensitive. It uses haptic vibrations instead of a physical click. Just like the trackpad on the latest MacBook and MacBook Pro models. Apple has also added IP67 water and dust resistance, a first for the iPhone series.
