Doordarshan, a Public Broadcaster has aims of attracting a growing number of users and has started offering TV service to cell phones in 16 cities, which includes around four metros.
In some statement, the broadcaster started operations from the 25th of February in 16 cities and is providing mobile TV to users.
These 16 cities include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Aurangabad, Indore, Raipur, Jalandhar, Lucknow, Cuttack, Ranchi, Patna, Guwahati, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi.
DVB T2 Dongles are needed in OTG enabled tablets and smartphones for receiving Mobile TV, and Wi-Fi dongles are required for moving vehicles. TV sets that have built-in DVB-T2 tuner are termed Integrated Digital TV.
The availability of iDTV is seen in Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Sony, and dongles can be availed on shopping websites like Snapdeal, eBay or Flipkart. The software has to be downloaded, and dongles must be plugged in tablets and smartphones for receiving DD signal.
The statement added that no charges would apply to watch DD channels. Also, there is no need of internet after installing the software.
Currently, TV channels that are being relayed are DD Regional, DD Sports, DD Bharati, DD Kisan, DD News and DD National. Viewers just need 1-time investment, and no extra expenditure is required.
