Google Assistant Is Expected To Come With Nexus 5X And Nexus 6P

The two Android smartphones, Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, will get Google Assistant as a major update. The news is not confirmed yet. Till date, the software is available to Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. Now, there are rumors that Google will add two more devices for Google Assistant.

The AI will come through a major update for these devices. It will not be any other small software update. Thus, there might be other new features as major updates tend to have more features than just a few bug fixes or improved functionality.

Android 7.1.2 is sure

Now, one sure shot update for Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P is the update to Android Nougat 7.1.2. It will come with a few improvements and bug fixes. So, we cannot say that update to Nougat 7.1.2 is the update for Google Assistant. There are also chances that Google Assistant will not come for the 2016 Nexus devices till Google releases the next Android version after Nougat. If that is the case, then the Nexus devices won’t get the update till the end of this year. Because Google launches next Android versions mostly at the years. So, we know there are a lot of questions in your mind, but one thing you can rest assured is, Google Assistant is coming for sure.

LG G6 and Nvidia Shield are also waiting for Google Assistant

One more feature that Nexus 5X and 6P will get quickly is the fingerprint scanner for opening the notification shade. It will come in Android 7.1.2 update. Google didn’t mention when they will release the major upgrade. Google Android TV director, Sascha Pruter confirmed that the Nexus Player would also get the new features. The XDA developers confirmed that they figured how to run Google Assistant on Nexus 6P.

Apart from these two smartphones, LG G6 and Nvidia Shield are also set to offer Google Assistant shortly. One important feature in Google Assistant in phones will be Keyboard input and gesture support. Secondly, it can become capable of letting the users make payments with commands. Some are of the opinion that the “major” update will come with Android 8 aka Android O.
