Google is planning to follow up the Pixel and Pixel XL with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL. It was confirmed recently. The first two phones (Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL) are codenamed as Muskie and Walleye. Surprisingly, Google is working on a third variant of the Google smartphones. It is codenamed as Taimen.
Some are also of the opinion that this variant might not come under the Pixel family. All the three recent variants of Google Pixel smartphones are named after freshwater fishes. One of the Droid Life’s sources says the Taimen will get larger screens than the previous two variants. Well, this explains the codename because the Taimen is a large fish in the Salmon family.
A bigger screen and better OS for Taimen? Let’s see
Apart from this, there are no more details available about the device right now. Chances are the Taimen will get even bigger screen than Google Pixel 2XL. We also came to know; Google is working on a cheaper variant of Pixel smartphone. It is a feature packed and waterproof high-end smartphone.
It looks like larger displays with slimmer bezels are on their way in 2017. If Google can adopt the 2:1 screen for Taimen with Android O, it can offer brilliant competition to any high-end smartphones in the market. Google will announce Android O at the IO developer event in May 2017.
On the other hand, Android Police also claims, the Taimen “could be” a phone but they are not sure of it. The Taimen can also be a tablet as well. As the launch time nears, we can offer you more details on it. For the other devices Muskie and Walleye, the former codename is reserved for the larger model Pixel 2XL and Walleye are the base variant Pixel 2. The Pixel 2 will come with a better camera, faster processor and water and dust resistant as well.
