Today, After lots of rumors, Lenovo finally launched Moto M smartphone at an event in China. Moto M was already spotted on China’s E-Retail portal TMall. There were a lot of leaks about Moto M in the past. But today after the launch event, Motorola’s Moto M was listed on the Company’s China website. Furthermore, along with Moto M, Lenovo has launched Vibe P2 in China. Moto M sales will start later this week. To take part in Moto M sales, users have to register on Motorola’s China Website.
After the huge success of Motorola’s Z-Series, the company tried to make some changes in the Motorola Smartphone lineups. With the launch of new M-Series, Motorola is trying to gain its mid-range market again. The smartphone packs a lot of features as well as better built quality than any mid-range phone in that price bracket.
Design and Display
Moto M has an all-metal unibody design. From the suffix M, we knew that it would have all-metal body construction. There are antenna bands on the top and bottom part of the device, just like iPhone 6s. The design is somewhat similar to Moto G4 Plus. Except for the fact that fingerprint scanner is on the back of the device, just below the camera module, unlike G4 Plus. The device has a compact dimension of 151.35 x 75.35 x 7.85 mm. It weighs around 163g. The phone is using waterproof nano-coating to provide comprehensive protection from splashing and Rain.
Motorola has never compromised the display unit, whether the phone is an entry-level phone or a high-end phone. So, same goes for Moto M; it features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display. It has a pixel density of 401ppi. But it lacks Corning Gorilla Glass Protection on top of its display unit.
Performance and Storage
Under the Hood, Moto M is powered by Mediatek MT6755 Helio P15 chipset. It is an Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) processor. It also has Mali-T860MP2 GPU, for better graphic performance. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The internal storage can further be expandable up to 256GB using MicroSD Card. If we go with the specs sheet, the phone will run smoothly without any lags what so ever.
In the past, Motorola has done a good job with the camera unit, which is present in Moto G4 Plus and Moto Z. So, we can expect excellent camera module in Moto M. The smartphone comes with a dual CCT 16MP rear-facing phase detection autofocus camera with LED Flash. It also features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama. It can shoot video in 1080p at 30fps. This phone can also shoot slo-mo videos using rear-facing snapper.
For Selfie Lovers, Moto M features an 8MP front-facing snapper with 1.12um pixel size. It can also record video in 1080p at 30fps.
Sound and OS
Moto M comes with a standard 3.5mm Audio Jack. This is the first smartphone from Motorola which supports Dolby Atmos effect. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmellow out of the box. It has nearly stock Android’s UI. Furthermore, Lenovo has also confirmed that it will be getting Android 7.0 Nougat update later next month.
Battery and Other Features
Moto M comes with a non-removable 3050mAh Li-Ion battery. It has a USB Type-C charging port which also supports fast charging.
It supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The phone also features Bluetooth v4.1, A2DP, LE. It is a dual SIM phone. It supports Cat6 LTE and VoLTE on both the SIM slots. The phone also supports OTG. The phone has a lot of sensors such as Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, etc.

Moto M is priced at 1999 Yaun in China which is around $295 or Rs.20000. It will be available in two color options Gold and Silver. Right now it is available in China, but Lenovo has confirmed that it will soon be available in India.
