Pokemon Go Launched In India With Reliance Jio

Well, one of the most awaited games of the year, Pokemon Go, finally released this year in India. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most thrilling mobile games launched till date. And Pokemon Go makes its debut in India, today. It partnered with Reliance Jio.

You can download and install the game from Google Play Store. And for those who have the iOS devices, they can download the game from App Store. In a statement of Reliance Jio, they said,

With this partnership, thousands of Reliance Digital Stores and select partner premises in India will appear as ‘PokeStops’ or ‘Gyms’ in the Pokemon GO game beginning December 14.

The Jio customers can download the game without any data charges till March 31, 2017. So, it is great news for the people of India and even better for the Jio SIM customers.

Initial release and downloads of Pokemon Go

The game released worldwide this year in July. And it became an instant hit. Pokemon Go gained millions within few days. The game had more than 500 million downloads since its launch. It is true that the game brought disturbance to the lives of a lot of people. It pushed them to step out and catch the virtual creatures. Till date, the game was not available in India. But from today, you can download and install the game for free from Google Play store.

Collaboration with Jio

The Jio users will have some additional features for this game. On the Jio’s social messaging app, JioChat, the Pokemon players can have access to the exclusive Pokemon Go Channel. This channel will help the players to collaborate and be the part of a community of players. You can get daily tips, contests, clues and also special events. According to Reliance Jio President, Mathew Oommen,

With over 500 million downloads globally, we are excited to launch ‘Pokemon GO’ officially in India on the Reliance Jio network.

Niantic is just delighted to join hands with Reliance Jio. And this is clear from the statements of CEO and founder of Niantic John Hanke. He said,

It’s exciting to see Pokémon fans in India step out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokémon and Jio’s disruptive high-speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game.

The Pokemon Go AR game is based on the popular anime TV show, Pokemon. It uses the geo-locations for placing the Pokemon in different locations for placing the Pokemon in different areas in the city.

Pokemon Go more popular than Candy Crush or Clash of Clans

The player has to walk around the city to look and catch the Pokemon which appear on the screen. The Pokemon trainers will also travel through the city to check out Pokemon stops for resupply and fight at the Pokemon gyms. This game needs a smartphone, active data connection, camera and GPS to run. The partnership with Jio will level up the subscription rates of Reliance Jio connections. The Reliance Jio stores will be the PokeStops and Gyms in the game. And this is live from today. Pokemon Go beat Candy Crush Saga (8.7%) and the Clash of Clans (5.2%) on the number of installations and downloads in less than a week after its release in the US.
