Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem devices announced for mobiles. The device was announced by Qualcomm on 21st February which supports a download speed of 1 Gbps. The company not only announced the LTE modem, but it also brought up some new RF Front-end components.
Qualcomm is working here in collaboration with Samsung. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem will use Samsung’s latest 10nm LPE processors offer significant enhancements over the X16 modems integrated with Snapdragon 835 SoC. The X20 has the support of 5X carrier aggression.Thus it allows much more flexibility to use available licensed and unlicensed spectrum for 1000 possible carrier aggression band combinations.

Improvement in Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem
The peak theoretical bandwidth will increase to 1.2gbps that offer a 20% improvement over X16 LTE modems. But the uplink bandwidth will remain the same supporting 150 Mbps with the 2 * 20 MHz carrier aggregation. Well, it is also true that the speeds will not be completely constant once it reaches your phone.
One the more important thing is, the first gigabit LTE modem is not yet available for the smartphones yet. So, it is a bit surprising that Qualcomm announced the successor chip for mobile phones. Last year, Qualcomm told that in the case of simulations, the average speed would range from 112 to 307Mbps. The peak speed will reach to 533 Mbps for the X16 modems. You can rest assured; the average speed of Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem will be more than the peak speed of the X16 modems.
If you are hoping to see the Qualcomm X20 modems in the Samsung, Nokia or the IPhones, you are unlucky. The chip is just announced. You might get it for your smartphones in 2018. The X20 and X16 modems have got a lot of features. These include LTE broadcast and the ultra HD voice quality feature with EVS codes. Both the modems will support Citizens Broadband Radio Service in the US.
One exclusive feature of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modem is the Dual Sim Dual Volte (DSDV) technology. It will help the carriers to shift out from the GSM legacy. It will not limit the second sim to GSM or 3G because the voice is carried to LTE. You can also select any SIM slot for LTE services.
The new RF Front-end components
Qualcomm also added a lot of new products in the RF360 portfolio. It includes new power amplifiers modules and the next gen TruSignal Solution. These new components will reduce energy consumption and enhance signal quality. It will lead to a better battery life and efficient cellular performance.
The latest TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning solution combines the QAT3550 impedance tuner, QAT3514 aperture tuner and QAT2522 antenna diversity switch that supports carrier aggression. These components work together with the modem that offers advanced signal processing. The signals come in a closed loop for ensuring the signal quality. The third gen QAT3550 is 30% smaller than the second gen impedance tuner.
