Raspberry Pi 3 – The microcomputer is available now

It is no secret that Raspberry Pi is a huge success. It is a microcomputer that is almost the size of your palm. It’s ease of access, user-friendliness, multiple GPIO pins and price has made the foundation to sell over eight million units in last four years. Let us take a look at Raspberry Pi 3 specifications –

Raspberry Pi 3 Software:

Keeping this section simple, the choice OS for Raspberry Pi is Debian based Raspbian. Installing Raspbian is simple and there are lots of tutorials available online.

Raspberry Pi 3 Performance:

Theoretically, since Pi 3 is clocked 1.2Ghz, so its performance is increased 33% from the start. Secondly, Cortex-A53 is nearly 50% faster than the previous cortex-A7. Which makes Pi 3 40-50% faster than Pi 2.

With all these developments, Raspberry Pi 3 has come very close to a real desktop replacement. However, that is not its mission. Raspberry Pi 3 is for hobbyist and educators and for that its performance is impressive. It comes pre-installed with Python 3 IDLE and many other tools. You can also use tools like OpenCV, languages like C, C++, java Golang, etc.

Some stuff you can make:

Following are simple examples that will help a new hobbyist to get ideas –

  • Raspberry Twitter Bot (Tweet Through Raspberry Pi)
  • Internet of Things
  • Drones, Quadcopters, Rovers and much more.

Raspberry Pi 3: Final opinion

The Raspberry Pi foundation has stayed true to its mission to deliver best microcomputers at affordable prices. With built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and also a better CPU, we can say that Pi 3 is a worthy successor of the previous boards.

So what are you waiting for? Upgrade to Pi 3. If you are new to this field, get started now!
