In last year November Samsung announced about the foldable smartphones that it would launch soon. You just cannot deny that many smartphone users were excited to check out the foldable display Samsung devices. The patent didn’t give any idea about what the Samsung foldable smartphones could look like and neither we had any idea when it will launch.
The only rumor that we knew was Samsung is working on the foldable display smartphones in the name Project Valley, and the devices will be referred to as the Galaxy X. TNI researchers have reported that the Samsung foldable smartphones will be launched in the second half of 2017.
We already published few more news regarding the launch and name of the Samsung foldable smartphones previously. Many more leaks are also supporting and confirming the news. The company will launch two smartphones called Samsung Galaxy X1 and Galaxy X1 Plus.
The models and specs of Samsung foldable smartphones
The new smartphones have allegedly leaked online, and it clearly indicates that the smartphones will have foldable displays. The leaks are posted on a Chinese social networking site called Weibo. It also says the model numbers of those two smartphones.
One is Sm-X9000, and the other is SM-X9050. Both the handsets will run on the Android operating system. The phones are in test in China. According to rumors, the Galaxy X1 will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallows and the Galaxy X1 Plus will run on the Android Nougat operating system.
Possible specs and rumors
According to the patent filed by Samsung, it suggests that the Galaxy X will feature a flexible secondary display that will turn on when the smartphone is folded. Other rumors indicate that the Samsung foldable smartphones will also have the 4k display. It will also host many other features like iris scan, fingerprint scan, face scan, a palm pattern and also biometric authentication.
Samsung might announce the new Galaxy X branded phones on Q3 and Q4 of 2017. Both the phones will have dual screen and flat screen on each side. Chances are there that Samsung might also launch another foldable display model with single flexible OLED screen and it will most likely release in the second half of 2018.
In last year November, the company bagged the patterns for the Samsung foldable smartphones in US Patent and Trademark Office. The aspect ratio of these smartphones will be different instead of the usual 16:9. According to the sketches of the patent, the smartphones will have a bend section in the middle. It allows the users to fold the smartphone like a flip phone.
