Twitter battled hate speech for a long time. And the fight is still on. This time, the fight is against world’s one of the most influential person. Well, some would also prefer to call him a troll. We will leave it to you. But the news is, Twitter will ban Donald Trump if he breaks hate speech rules. And why such a drastic step by Twitter? Mr. Trump is using Twitter for the last eighteen months. And he expressed all his offensive comments and judgment through Twitter. Trump attacked and mocked media. He insulted women; false praised himself and straight away lied. According to his remarks, “I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who were not legal voters.”
Have Donald Trump made comments that violate Twitter’s policies?
We all know such comments are just baseless. These remarks are already re-checked several times, but they have no evidence. The deceptive tweets of Donald Trump have not yet violated Twitter’s rules of threats. But Twitter is still keeping a close eye on his account for aggressive comments. And this week, Twitter told, it will consider banning key government officials. Even if it is the president, he will not be spared. Twitter will not tolerate any violation of rules in hate speech. Twitter mentioned, “The Twitter Rules prohibit violent threats, harassment, hateful conduct, and account abuse, and we will take action on accounts violating those policies.”
Anyone can be banned
It is sure that every single individual is within the policies of Twitter rules. And if the rules are not followed, the account will be banned. While Donald Trump may not have crossed the line yet, but he has made a lot of lewd comments. Recently he claimed that Abdul Razak Ali Artan should not be in the US. He carried out an attack at the Ohio State University. Artan was a legal resident of US. His family finally fled to Pakistan from Somalia in 2007. And Razak Ali arrived in the US in 2014. Even the Republicans are in an uncomfortable situation. Just because of his tweets. An adviser and vice chairman of Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich, said “The president of the United States can’t just tweet without having somebody check it out. “It makes you wonder about whatever else he’s doing. It undermines much more than a single tweet.”
Prominent accounts banned by Twitter
Well, Twitter is firm about removing prominent accounts. And this is true from the past experiences. Milo Yiannopoulos was banned from Twitter. The reason was he instigated social media attacks on actress Leslie Jones. Milo was a right wing troll and technology editor for Breitbart.com. Twitter also banned another important account. This time it was the account of a prominent governor in Venezuela. He tweeted private information of a lot of individuals.
